Chin Augmentation

The shape of the chin can have an effect on the balance of the whole face. However, whether due to genetics or the effects of ageing, often the appearance of the chin does not correspond with the aesthetics of the rest of the face. Fortunately, at Face Medical Clinic, we are well practiced in non-surgical chin enhancement procedures, which are becoming an increasingly sought after treatment.

Consultation

At Face Medical Clinic, all of our patients are asked to come in for an initial consultation prior to any treatment. During your consultation, an experienced member of our clinical team, run by Deborah Vines, will analyse the proportions of the face, so they can personalise the treatment to suit your own unique needs. We use dermal fillers to provide instantaneous results with minimal risk to the face. Dermal fillers are a safe way to redefine the structure of the jawline by enhancing the chin.

The Procedure

Dermal fillers provide a quick fix to disproportionate chins; the treatment is non-invasive and pain free in comparison to other traditional methods of chin augmentation. A clear gel made from hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, is carefully injected around the target area. 4-6 injections are usually needed, although this varies depending on the condition of the chin before the treatment. We also use advanced cannula techniques which cause less trauma to the skin with only one or two entry points. The procedure lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, and the result is a natural-looking reshaped chin that redefines the face and balances the features.

Aftercare

Dermal filler chin augmentations produce instant results, however, the area may be subject to bruising, swelling, and redness for a short time after the procedure. Optimal results will occur after 3-4 weeks post-treatment, as this is when the swelling will be fully healed. Avoidance of exercise, extreme heat, alcohol and make up is recommended for 24 hours. There is no downtime, and many patients can return to work straight away. Results can last 12-18 months depending on how fast the filler is absorbed into the body. Top up procedures are recommended after this time in order to produce even longer lasting results.
