Botox
Botox is most commonly used as a non-surgical way to treat the signs of ageing, to treat wrinkles on the top third of the face. These areas include:
- The forehead
- Around the eyes
- In-between the eyebrows
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin, a bacterial substance that blocks nerve signals to muscles causing lines and wrinkles. The effects are confined to the injection site; it does not spread around the body.
Results are dramatic and clearly visible within 2-7 days. After 2 weeks you will see a complete improvement in your facial lines.
Visible benefits of the first treatment normally last for between 4 and 6 months, after which some follow-up treatment is needed. The therapy is performed by a series of tiny injections. Botox provides a simple solution to lines and wrinkles with no down time.
It is unlikely you will develop any significant side effects. You may experience slight swelling at the injection site and occasionally some bruising, which can be easily disguised with makeup. Some clients experience mild headaches or flu-like symptoms that
can easily be treated with paracetamol and anti-histamines.

Botox should not be used if you have a skin infection or skin disease near the injection site. Pregnant and breast feeding clients should also not have Botox. It is not recommended for anyone with a known sensitivity to Botox or individuals who are taking certain antibiotics.
